Labels

Introduction

Labels are a new product. We now have the ability to do labels on a roll. The beauty of this product is it allows us to create custom labels of any size (15x15 - 117-200mm) and any shape! White ink is also available to be used on certain product stocks (Kraft, Clear and Silver label stocks).

Things to keep in mind when designing:

  1. Supplying file with a minimum of 3mm bleed.
  2. Images are embedded (Especially for Illustrator PDFs).
  3. Fonts have been outlined.

Supplying Label Files with White Ink

To setup your file to use white ink you will need to create a special spot colour swatch to indicate what elements you want printed in white.
Follow the instructions below on how to set up your swatch.
  1. Create a new swatch, and name the swatch SpotColor_White (exactly like this, including the underscore).
  2. Set Colour Type to Spot
  3. Set Colour Mode to CMYK
  4. The colour make-up for this swatch is:
    Cyan - 0%, Magenta - 100%, Yellow - 0%, Black - 0%.
  5. Then click OK.
  6. Select the objects that you want to be printed in White and use the new swatch to indicate them.

Using White in Your Design

Unlike Spot UV, you can use the white colour swatches in layers, it can be both in behind elements or on top of elements.
In the images below, both use the spot colour (in magenta).
Left it is underneath the black flowers, and on the right it is in front of the black flowers.

Supplying Kiss Cut Label Files

If you are after a shaped sticker like a circle or some other shape, you will need to indicate this within your file.
To do this you will need to use the cut swatch, mentioned previously in the Finishings (‘Die-Cut’). Follow the steps there to set up your swatch.
To indicate where to cut follow these instructions:
  1. Place your lines above your artwork using the crease spot colour swatch (We recommend creating a finishing layer within your artwork, to maintain a neat and tidy file).
  2. All lines must be at 1pt stroke width.
  3. The shape you create must be one complete shape (e.g. an entire circle).
  4. Set the cut lines to Overprint from within the Attributes panel.
Info: If your label is square you do not need to indicate this with a ‘cut line’. Note that all square labels have slightly rounded corners of 1.5mm.
